Michelle Love - Certified ISR Instructor

Picture
I am the proud mother of 3 beautiful girls.  All three of my girls are safe around water...because I made sure that they were in ISR lessons and because we are always watching them when in or around the water!  I became an ISR instructor for the same reason as most people do:  to insure that not one more child drowns.  For me, this was a very personal decision as my own daughter almost drowned at the age of 3.

We were right there...on the side of the pool.  She was always a well behaved child who rarely didn't mind.  She knew not to get into the water without her floaties on. (big mistake number 1) She was playing to the side of the pool while my father-in-law and I chatted. (we took our eyes off of her...big mistake number 2)  I had a baby in my lap.  Without a single sound of warning, Aubrey had slipped back into the pool.  I guess she thought she still had on her floaties and just stepped off the steps.  In such a vertical position, she had no hope of floating.  She sank...and that is what I saw when I happened to glance up a few seconds later.  My precious child, terrified, with eyes wide open and feet touching the bottom of the pool.

We went in search of swimming lessons.  We tried a traditional approach, but soon found that Aubrey needed more.  That is when we found the ISR program.  Within a few days, Aubrey and her sister Adeline had learned so much.  I was captivated.  When our instructor decided to  move away, I knew that our area NEEDED this program.  That is when I decided to become a certified instructor.

I brought with me 10 years of classroom experience as a teacher.  My BS is in education and I taught for 10 years before becoming a stay at home mom.  I also have a Master's in Human Resources, which is a nice help to the business side of this endeavor.  But...more than anything, I bring with me a passion to insure that no other parent has to go through what I went through and that NO parent has to suffer the loss of a child to drowning.

I look forward to working with you and your child as s/he becomes an aquatic problem solver and a skilled swim-float-swimmer or floater!
